| The last time i looked or talked to buddies back in cali the market was hot in san diego which is off Interstate 5 in so cal, ventura county which is off the 101 freeway and covers 7 or 8 solid cities. The ventura county area can be a bit expensive mostly cause alot of stars live there, not far from LA or Hollywood. A very nice place to live. I would check monster.com just to get an idea of what looks good to you as far as oppurtunity for your field. good luck hope you like mexican food there are alot of good eats there. | |

| Are you just up and moving to Cali? Please tell me you have something lined up. We (the United States) have enough people being laid off and trying to find work without importing them.
Please don't take this as being rude to any foreigners or natives coming home, but it's a rough market in some places. I'm just saying cover your butt before you move and you'll be ok.

| OK, Maybe I wasn't clear before - I am a US citizen, not a foreigner looking for a job. No, I don't have anything lined up - hence my posting on this noticeboard for advice... | |

| NT seems to be dying off here in No Cal, but I see Solaris and Unix admin stuff pretty regularly. Try Dice.com in the Silicon Valley under the metro area search.
There's a Sys Admin position NT/Unix in Vacaville that's been advertised for months. I'd love the gig, but I don't have 4 years of Unix...

| Thanks for the help so far. I have tried to apply for jobs from here, but I haven't got any replies back - I reckon they're not going to go to the trouble of replying to anyone who's not a local candidate. I'm pretty open to anywhere in the Bay area or San Diego. | |
