There's not really a yes or no answer to that one is there? Depends on a thousand different factors. You hear of people with all the qualifications in the world ending up in the gutter, or on the other hand 20 year old millionaires who never got a qualification in their lives.

As a general rule though the better your qualifications and experience, the better your salary.

Thank you, MistyRing for a good response to that question. I think it all boils down to skills and experience especially if you're qualified with a good degree from a well known university. Lastly, with God on your side, sometimes we think this is irrelevant and use the word luck. Sorry, try and read that book called "The Prayer Of Jabez" you'd be surprise what it is you'd figure out. Nuff said as am not commenting on this issue any more. Stay focused and remain positive as my attitude still is and would remain ain't quitting till I win. At the end of the day look at Bill Gates, he has all the money inthe world but he is stil at it so what should I say or do or even you. I guessed you figured that one out. Cheerio

Well, it DOES depend on a lot of factors, but.....ummmmm....generally no.

My company prides itself on being pretty competitive with wages and I can tell you the only persons we have in IT who make 6 figures are the Senior Vice President and the Assistant Vice Presidents and it took them many years to get there.

The programmers come next and they max out at $80,000-85,000. Network Admins max out at $70,000 and PC Support people top out at $48,000. I think those are pretty good salaries, though, even if they're not 6 figures.

I think to get 6 digits (without being lucky), you need to be the one that the experts call when they have problems. To get that good, you will need some combination of intelligence, eperience, education, and work ethic.

The only way to get 6 figures in Rural kentucky is to have the acronym CEO behind your name.
I don`t know about louisville or lexington.

Thats the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. The only way were you live to think of 6 figures you bascially have to have the title od CEO behind your name. Remind me never to work in Kentucky.

Notice I said Rural kentucky.
I live in the sticks
I`m sure Louisville has alot of those jobs.
Plus I may have been exagerating a bit,
but it is hard to find those kind of jobs.

Location plays a huge factor in it! I guaranatee you the same goes up here! I live in a city of about 65,000 people. You aren't gonna be pulling in 6 figures in IT unless you are an MIS Manager or CEO, CIO... or some cool title like that! I have Engineer in my title & I barely pull in 60K, that's a far cry from 100K! But you also have to remember there are a lot of factors... like cost of living!!!

Example: Minneapolis, MN is about 3 1/2 hours from here. That city has a couple million people in it. I could move down there (like many of my friends have done) and find out that the 60K I make here would have to be around 95-110K in the cities to equal SIMILAR living conditions. The house I own now would cost me double (or more) down there, the insurance on my house & car.... double to triple!!! The cost of living is something like 2.5 times higher down there on the average. Most of my friends have found that out the hard way! Sure I'd love to make 6 figures, but unless there's an opening for a CEO here soon, I'll just have to wait! Money will only go as far as the area you live in will allow...

Maybe someday I'll move down there to make a 6 figure salary, all about braggin rights ya know! Just my .05 cents!

I live in a town of about 8`000
I work in a neighboring town of about 20`000
So I take what I can get
I don`t do bad though.
One thing to remember is my 2200 square foot home cost me around 65`000 dollars
including a large 1 acre lot with an arpartment on it.
So its all relative

I have found a few jobs advertised in the UK with 6 figures for IT people. These are usually infrastructure implemters or UNIX admins. I once saw one for a VB Analyst with a wage of 115K.

If you want a salary well in excess of 6 figures why not move to Turkey?

Current exchange rate £1 = 1,832,427 Lira ($1 = 1,319,347 Lira)

If you have enough money for a Big Mac you're a millionaire! Imagine what your annual salary would be!?!?
