| So I rupture one of my achillies tendons in early 2000 and get knocked out of work for 8 months. I decide "Hey what a great time to take some computer classes". By late 2000 I have my MCSE, A+ and N+. Couldn't find a decent IT job until April 2001 when my wifes work had an opening for an entry level IT guy. So I take a small paycut and the job. Pretty lucky since my boss and co-worker are teaching me more than any class I could ever take. So now, almost a year later, still learning and studying to take CCNA(failed first time), I have built a good repore with the people I am supporting, one of our VPs asks me if I'd like to support a network for 200+ users in one of his Govt. contracts for about $5/hr more. I go on another interview tomorrow but I feel very lucky to be in this position. I would have to take a crash course in SQL and IIS but it shouldn't be too bad. The only downside is that I love my job right now. It's really not too busy, really relaxed and I am learning a lot. Everyone I talk to says it's much of the same at the other job, just a bit busier and I'll have way more responsibilities than I have now. It will look goo on my resume thats for sure..... | |

| If only there was something like that here in MA, I just got my A+ and Net+ and am working on CCNA, and the job market is terrible here hopefully I'll find something just to get experience | |

| Thanks Hard,
I found out last night, after a grueling 4 man tag team interview, that I got the job. I didn't BS them with what I know and don't know and they still want me for the job. So, I may be emailing you on occation....

| Way to go! I used to be afraid of SQL until the last job I had forced me to be the SQL admin. Learned alot about the stored procedures and backing up the SQL DB (and subsequently, restoring it ). It's not that hard once you spend some time playing with it.
Best of luck to you! I hope the new job still leaves you enough time to play online once in a while | |

| Congrats on the new job!! Still waiting for my callback! Hope to hear this afternoon!! (I am really sweating it, as I didn't get a feel either way as to how it went.) Cross your fingers! I have mine crossed and also have said a few short prayers! (I know, probably should not be asking this of him, but it never hurts!) | |
