| Low 40s. Would've been more if the users would have put money in the "TIPS" jar I have on my desk. Bunch of cheapskates!! | |

| Above $50k with no certs to speak of. I fell from OJT to OJT until I got to where I am. My current Title is Project Manager. I fell through these layers to land here.
US Army - Satellite Operator
Data cable installer / Estimator / custom cable maker (all in one job)
Network Engineer / Systems admin - Small WANs lots of banging on Cisco
Finally Project manager / Installer / Maintenance (cut backs I inherited a lot of hats)
I am hoping CCNP will get me above where I am now. What do you think?
Thanks,

| I am in the mid 60s in the Washington,DC metro area, but in my group I am the lowest paid and youngest.
Last year I officially transferred from from an auditor position to network security position within my company. However, prior to my transfer I had been offline for 2 - 3 years working on a software development project and doing other collateral network administration duties.
DC is still a hot market for IT.

| 40 at the end of 2001.
This year should increase considerably.
Not bad for rural Kentucky and 2.5 years expierience.
Started at entry level $25,000 2.5 years ago got a 7,750 dollar raise last year,
With mandatory OT it came to 40,000.
I`ve been promised another 7,000 in june for the new fiscal year and just got a 5% t hold me over.
Also my retirement plan matches 2 dollars to every one I put in up to 5% of my gross.
I work 49 to 50 hours a week though.
But to give you perspective, my monthly payment on a 15 year mortgage for my 2200 square feet 3 bed 2 bath home is only $650.
| darthw 2002-01-11, 9:20 pm |
| Only 49 to 50 hours per week. I'd feel like I was on vacation if I only had to work those few hours | |

| 1999 salary $35k
2000 salary $50k
2001 salary $65k
2002 salary $0k (unemployed)
Hehe it's kinda funny when I look at it. At least I was heading in the right direction for a while.

| Over $90,000.00, and I'm thinking of quitting and trading it all in for a much more relaxing job. It's not about the money anymore for me. I would like to be a technical trainer.
PS: I am mostly in management now after working up the ladder for over 6 years. I am tired of being in management. It is NOT as fun as when I used to do on-site tech calls several years ago.
Oh well, WHAT GOES UP, MUST COME DOWN!

| Started my first job with my company last month. There are three of us who were hired to staff a monitoring room at night. Came in, supervisor said, "It doesn't matter to me how you do it, just as long as someone is here at night". Two of us are continuing our education, so here is our schedule. Each work 2 days a week with one covering the extra day (Saturday) every week. Started me out at 40K with a shift dif. of 10%, making it 44K. Matching 401 for the first 6%. 20 days leave. | |

"Only 49 to 50 hours per week. I'd feel like I was on vacation if I only had to work those few hours"
I know it doesn`t sound like alot of hours to some of you, but my point was that I had to work that much to get to the salary range
of 40 grand, I feel I shouldn`t have to work overtime to make 40 grand and my employer is coming around to that idea also.
I don`t mind the OT mind you.
I think he realizes that I couldn`t be replaced for the same amount of money.
Btw 49 to 50 was an avarage sometimes much more sometimes only straight 40 hours.
I`m not counting study time either hehe.

| Base is 70+
1997 16K
1998 12K (attained certification) Quit Job
1999 117K Independent - Worked 49 weeks
2000 90K Independent - Worked 33 weeks
2001 80K Independent J-Jun (8 weeks), took job FT July.
I took it for the project, it's creating a new division. The job is fun sometimes, others, not so. Don't like the politics inside a company.

| I'm around $56K, but they figure all the benes too and that's supposed to bring it way up. Whatever, I guess maybe it does. We have a pretty agressive retirement, stock, medical, dentalplans and we get discounts on mechandise. Supposedly with everything added up I make over 80 or something, but I don't see it that way. I just look at base. I can't pay the bills with benes, so when I go shopping, I compare the base only. | |

| Made peanuts on my first project $700 for months of work building a custom app.
Used that project to land my first job as a junior developer while 1/2 way to my BS in CS.
Started at $30K -
just before graduation was making $40K
When I graduated (2000) I was offered 68K
While other grads w/no exp were getting 40K.

| When I first did the MCSE (NT4), back in 1998 it was boom time in the IT industry. I was lucky enough to get 2 pay rises that year. The second one was based on me passing the exams within a given time frame. My salary went up that year by £10K ($15K).
The good old days eh.....

Hey, I'm in the Baltimore area - If I can get you a technical training gig can I get your job!?! ;-)
| Psydefx 2002-02-06, 8:31 am |
| Why don't you get Computerman and I both gigs and then keep 20% for yourself. You might find it lucrative.
Just an idea with specific example. If you have a product, people will buy it when it's marketed properly.
