hi techboy. i'm sorry...i'm not sure which areas specifically should be popular. i've only read online articles and such, which is mostly just speculation...but network security should be popular as there seems to be a shortage of security professionals right now and securing a company's private info and access to files is always a security issue that has to be dealt with...

Let me make myself clear. Things like networking will never go away. Security is hot right now but it has a steep learning curve if you are not proficient in networking
databases etc and how they all tie together.I dont see any way a person can just jump into network security without a good base of knowledge. They same can go for wireless networking ,you still need to know traditional networking in order to move into wireless networking. I am in no way a expert on this. I just read alot of tech newsletters
and read what others post about various topics on this board.

Just my $.02 worth

The general concensus is that the hiring of I.T. professionals will not improve next year. However, people with large skillsets are much in demand right now and this is not about to change. They don't want to hire programmers, they want to hire lead developers with managerial skills thrown in. Your salary might be good if you fit this category but it is hardly generous. Yes, security seems to be the flavour of the month.

Hi RichardJW!

What security would you recommend for someone with more than two years experience in networking? Or what would you recommend for a start?
