| Looking at your resume, two things don't fit. In your summary, you say that you have over 3 years of experience. Then your experience states you've only been an admin since 2002. Other than that, you have no other experience on your resume. So, the statement doesn't make sense. | |

| well I have done private consulting for 5 years now and people have told me not to put that on there, i just add that in my cover letter. | |

| Now I'm really confused. Your resume states that you have three years of experience, then you show that you have your present job just this year. Now, you state you have five years of experience that you place on your cover letter. No matter what you say on the cover letter or summary, you need to back it up with an description in the professional experience area of your resume. You don't want people to think you're lying, right? Don't let them doubt your abilities. If you talk about experience in your cover letter, show it on your resume.
This is how I see it. | |

| If you have private consulting experinces then you should list them.
Also, you stated that you took all the classes for MCSE, did you take the tests, if so lists the passed test, and clearly states "MCSE pending". | |

| sorry im not trying to come off as not telling the truth. I have just been told not really to list consulting jobs. thanks for the tips on that. | |

| Hi Bwaite. The only thing that I saw that might need clarification is the 2nd page where you list protocols.
You might need to qualify your experience and or knowledge of protocols. I'm a net engineer - and while I'm no protocol expert, I do know a little.
It has been my experience that most Server Admins (it bugs me to no end to call them "Network Administrators") who are Microsoft certified typically have very little understanding of how "real" (non-microsoft) networking works. Expecially the guts of DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, etc. They know how to configure a M$ box to use these protocols (hopefully) but they don't have any understanding of what happens under the GUI configuration screen.
If you were to come interview with me, I would see that you have knowledge of these protocols and throw some technical protocol questions at you to guage your knowledge - and if you didn't know, that would look bad for you - since you listed them on your resume.
Hope this helps! |
