I recieved an offer to work with TASC, it is a subsidiary of Northrop Grumman. I looked at cost of living it is about 15k more there than here (Newport News). I just wanna know what type of area it is. Yes I did go to mapquest and all the other stuff but that does not substitute for first hand experiance.

Thanks in advance

Chantilly Va is not far from me.
Suburb of D.C. not too far from Faifax. near major malls, big schools, terrible traffic.
Going west though, not too far from the mountains & some wide open spaces.
this whole area is pretty expensive. I'd look over the Washington Post Classifieds
www.washingtonpost.com to get a feel for housing prices.
Come on up. There's never enough people around here.
At least that's what the builders all think!

To find out about cost of living of an area, try using keywords in google.com

such as:

"costs living Chantilly, Va"

Play around with it and you might find some articles written about this town. All of DC area to me seems expensive, but I haven't lived there.....

I have lived in NOVA for about 15 years and I must say it is expensive as housing costs go but moderately expensive for everything else. Gas is about 130-150 a gallon. Movies are 650-750 at night. Traffic is bad during commute on major through fares but fine at any other time. Groceries stores every 5 miles. Plenty of movie stores, movie theaters and shopping malls. I went to school at William and Mary so I know a little about your area. Everything up here is a one big suburb with little housing communities here and there and apartments scattered around.

My brother worked for TASC. Expect to follow a time based promotion system. NO if ands or butts. You must meet the time requirements for a promotion. That is why my brother left there. He was working as the level above where he was for 6 months and they would promote him to that level and pay him that.
