| Try some helpdesk and computer repair jobs. | |

| Do you have any management skills, or a college degree?
IF you have management skills that would help you a bunch in the IT management positions.
Even though you are just starting in the IT use ALL your previous experience as best as you can to justify you being a good candidate.
The A+ establishes you enough to find some work but most of the jobs may not be big $$$.
If you are serious about being in a Networking Enviroment than the MCSE is a good idea. BUT be sure it is exspensive and time consuming.
The beginning is hard for every one, so hang in there. | |

| I had worked in a call center dealing with website problems and over time, as the call center got larger, some of the co-workers that were hired on were in their 40s and 50s. Many of them were sharp troubleshooters. Some had previous networking experience, one had worked on a DOS network for years and another had done some hardware repair. A few were retired from the military.
The only drawback is few of them were promoted. I think there is age discrimination for sure. But it looks good on their resumes as they move on to better jobs. One of them, mid 40s, is studying Oracle to become a DBA.
I would try a call center (help desk) environment, especially if you have great customer service ability. These jobs are the most common entry level for IT. It's never too late to start. |
