Hello fello forum members,

I have been viewing your posts for a little while and thought I would ask your assistance in finding some kind of IT job. I received my CCNA in january after attending a cisco academy that included hands on practice on routers and swithches along with setting up and administrating Windows NT. After looking for employment for a while without any sucess, I pursued and passed the first 2 CCNP tests. Still I can't even land an interview with any companies. I regularly check all of the employment sites and it seems like a cisco cert is not even good enough to give serious consideration to a candidate? Can somebody please give me some useful advice, I live in New Jersey but I am open to anything that would give me a chance in this everchanging field.
Thanks!

If u don't have experience, it might be tought to get a regular job as tech support or anything.

Try volunteering help on local city or state community center, elder care, day care, ...

EXPERIENCE is almost everything in this field, without it. Your resume will look blank.

Try computerjobs.com and dice.com , you shall able to find something to fit you.

Good luck

Right now it is very tough to find a job with just Cisco. I had to add an MCP just to get interviews (and I had lots of experience!!). Be patient, I think that the job market will get better in a couple of months (if you can wait that long!!).

The Market is suffering all over the US now.

I suggest taking the A+ test. That is a common standard cert that is not overlooked by most companies. It says "YES I AM A TECH".

CCNA is a good one to have but if the company is small with no routers, they wont consider you because they may fill you are over qaulified or have skills that they do not need.

I dont know what you are searching for but you may want to open your range for what type of jobs.

Try diferent web sites.

Good Luck!

Be patient is right, but time will run out and so do your cash...

Take any chance u can to get experience...

If u don't mind, work with the city, state or the federal agency.

You guys are correct when it comes to the experience but I have tried to put in for entry level positions and still no success. I was trying to be patient then I realized that I would soon be out of money. So as of right now I had to put aside this IT dream and find myself a regular 9-5. My next plan is instead of running after certs, is try to complete my Computer Science degree and see how that helps me. Thanks guys for your useful advise!
