Very nice. But before you send it to ANYONE, you need to fix some grammar mistakes. For starters, pick a tense -- I prefer past tense -- right now you are switching between present and past tense in your job descriptions. For example:
quote:

Created images, configure, install Compaq computers and Bay Networks equipment.

It should be something like: "Created images, configured and installed Compaq computers and Bay Networks equipment."

There's a couple of typos, too, and watch those stray bullets.

I'm also unclear on which certifications you have. You say you attended classes for A+ certification, but it's not clear if you actually are A+ certified. Anyone have thoughts on clarifying that?

Yeah, I stated that I attended classes at ECPI so I'm not sure how to word it.

A few revisions to my earlier comments -- as usual I do my best thinking in the shower about subjects I hadn't intended to think about.

Just MHO, I know this contradicts what someone else said... so think of it as another option.

In your training & cert section, I would dump the whole ECPI classes section. It's irrelevant; you already mention Novell and Windows NT in your experience. Under ECPI in your education section, just state "Computer Technology."

Then get rid of the "Self-Study" subheader, and just list your certifications: no need for a subheading, it will be obvious. But leave the Medic section if you want, although it's also a little redundant.

The goal of all of the above is to emphasize your experience instead of your education. The experience is what employer's are most interested in.

Also spell out "Introduction" (instead of "Intro") under Caldwell Community College. It looks more professional. To help out HR people who aren't certification savvy (and search engines), I'd also use the initials for the certifications in parenthesis, i.e "(CCNA)"

I am a motivated individual seeking a position in networking that will challenge my skills and my ability to work in a team environment.

I don't think it's cheesy, although you may want to drop the "I am a motivated individual" and just use "I am seeking a position in networking...". More my own personal preference.

Also, I agree again with much of what Nicole stated in her post regarding changes to the resume. Verb tense agreement is my own pet peeve in my own resume: If you worked somewhere in the past use past tense, and if you are currently employed in a position those job duties should be listed in the present tense. Since "troubleshot" would be a very poor past tense choice for "troubleshoot" try something like "supported", i.e. "Supported remote computer problems via phone and remote control software".

Also, use snappier words like "training" rather than "teaching". In many places you could remove the "responsible for" phrases and just use the following predicate - "maintained HP JetAdmin...." or "assisted users with...". Without the "responsible for" it is obvious that you are listing your duties in the position; the phrase is redundant.

Of course, these are just my opinions. Overall it looks good, but just needs some tweaking.

I agreed that get rid of those self-study.

Be more professional, take out those attending classes.

Set up Certification section:
list all your Cert, instead of currently studying. Just put down CCNA(in process)

hope these help

hey, what about the "refrences available upon request" line at the end.

These are some good tips, thanks for your input. I was thinking of changing the "Attended ECPI....." and replacing it with "Computer Skills". Would it be OK to list the classes I took under Computer Skills? I have worked with all of the diff OS and skills.

I'd skip it. Recruiters and hiring managers seem to agree on this one -- it's right up there with putting "Resume" at the top for stating the obvious.

Better, but I still think it's redundant. As you say, you've worked with all of those things in your jobs. If you had ambiguous job titles or something, you might want to have a skills section. I have a 'skills' section because I was attracting the wrong kind of attention. Now I'm not attracting much at all, but at least what I do get is all for database work instead of computer sales or admin positions... Those skills might be something to emphasize in your cover letter though, if they are what a company is particularly looking for.

i'd like to ditto pretty much everything that has been previously stated while adding the following:
When listing products you have worked with, always MAKE CERTAIN to spell it EXACTLY as the vendor does. i.e. Novell NDS 5.1 is what you have. it's Novell NetWare 5.1 and the version of NDS can vary. i'd list it like so: Novell NetWare 5.1 NDS Tree. and you list Net Admin... do you mean NetWare Administrator? and you list Rconsole. i know everyone knows it as such but i'd list it as Remote Console (RConsole). the product calls itself by the long name. we (techies) call it Rconsole.

if you can't list the name properly, did you REALLY work with it? or how much experience do you REALLY have with it. that may be what's going through their collective heads. i also read that somewhere... very important! if you don't know exactly how they spell it, go to their web site.

and do the skills section. it makes it easier for the employer to see at a quick glance what you know. s/he will find out more by reading the rest of the resume.

try, when possible, to limit it to one page. it makes the resume easier to handle, physically.. no lost pages, it's concise... etc.

to me, ideally is two pages resume!
unless you have lots and lots experience to put on your resume (as well lots of skills)
