| Ok at the risk of sound redundant, I have also changed careers. Going from a Vet Tech to an IT professional.
I went back to school and took the two years to get an AAS in computer networking.
I thought about and tried programming. -not a career for me-
I fell in love with computer hardware and networking.
I certified for my A+ and N+ almost right after finishing classes.
I am taking my CCNA tomorrow, and am working on my MSCE.
I hate to say but I am still in a fairly entry level job. I am making quite a bit less in salary than my counterparts. This is due to my 'lack of experience'. I think it is just the good 'ole boy system that we are forced to work in.
I love what I do and am posotive that I will be able to achieve the careet goals I have set for myself.
The way I see it, I have already made it through college as a single mother with 3 children. (the last one born finals week my second to last semester), suffered an internship for the better part of a year, and am still working with and loving the IT industry.
What could be tougher than that?
A few men with antiquated ideals are not going to slow me down.

| Hi Kread!
Kudos to you!
You are on your way! Sounds like you are one tenacious gal! Don't ever give up... you will get there! No one - but another
mother - knows how difficult it is... the heavy demands of raising children, earning a living and going to school!!
I also changed careers last Sept. after getting laid off from a Mktg job.
Now have my A+, Net+, and only one more Exam til I have my MCSE and MCSA. Begin CCNA next week and CCNP in Jan. It's been tough but anything worth doing is going to be an up hill battle. I feel good about myself and know that I can make this work.
Keep up the good work... you are an inspiration to us all!!!
