| I am the only woman in my N+ class and we have two weeks left before our finals. I don't want to let my instructor down by failing the certification, I have been studying for months and not sure how I can memorize all the information.
Any suggestions | |

| Study 3 hours a day, in a timely matter. Read the materials in a voice you can hear.
Review questions and answers. And know why the answer is correct or wrong.
Download study guides and practice questions.

| Get a good book and read till you can't read any more, as you come across things you might need to memorize such as cable lengths, etc. jot them on a piece of paper and go back after reading. | |

| While you are studying the book, write down the note and every 2-3 days, compile the note into a nice format on your computer and print it out. This way, you are forced to look at the material 3 times and they are great reminder aid when the time come.
For example, keeping inmind of exam objective, when you get to a discussion about, say MAC address, write down like
mac address, 48 bit, 24 bit vender id, 24 bit vender assign id. 6 digit in this format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx, first 6 vender id etc.
When you are done with the book, comile all your note into organized format,
protocols wtih protocols,
hardware with hardware etc.
network trouble shoot tools etc
so you can just take a quick look at see that, i can use all these for task A, and each tool are more useful for specific task etc etc.

!!I just recently passed my Net+! Whatever you do, follow the advice listed. The Net+ exam just changed. The only thing you may need to really watch out for are command utilities (network troubleshooting commands from command prompt) and know a little about IPSec. I had quite a few questions on IPSec and quite a few about the command prompt and switches. Security seems to be the big issue with Net+ right now. You are lucky to have these wonderful people give you good advice. I trusted another gentleman in class after he took exam to que me into what I needed to look out for. I realized he was looking out for himself. I, too, am of the minority in class. We have three females out of 13 total students. I am presently the only one keeping up with the guys. Don't get discouraged.

| Hi,
Just thought I'd echo the sentiments of another poster, that security is a big thing. IPsec, Kerberos, VPN's, different kinds of authentication (PAP, CHAP, MSCHAP, etc.) What SSL is, etc.
Network+ 2002 is a LOT less on the theoretical OSI model ideas than it was in 2000. It's also a LOT less vendor-independent. You don't have to know as much about UNIX or Netware as you did for the old test requirements. Any OS-specific commands tested are usually Windows.
It also seems to require more troubleshooting expertise, so when you're studying, work on scenarios and understanding what commands to use when you see certain network symptoms, to narrow down what the problem might be.

| Dont worry I'm sure you will pass your exam. Ensure you concentrate on your weakest area first then a general review of all others. | |

| I'm sure you will do great! I know exactly how you feel. I was the only woman in my Cisco class and I didn't want to fail my teacher by not passing. But what ended up happening, was I got pregnant and couldn't finish the class. But later on I went and got my CCNA and passed with flying colors! I felt bad because my teacher really wanted me to finish the course and pass the test because I was the only woman, and there were like 30 men. But I think only like two of them passed, and then I went and passed also, just had to take a little while longer!
You should go to http://www.networkdesigner.net and take their practice tests and stuff. It will really help you out! I know it did me! I studied off of their website and that is how I passed my CCNA. It is wonderful! I know they have a Network + test on there, I'm not studying for it at the moment, but I know that if it is even half as good as the CCNA, it will definately help you out!
