| I am a administrative assistant looking to get into the IT field. I am planning to take the mous exams (expert level in word/excel). What is the best way to get a job in this field without any IT background.
thanks for your help.

| Without any experience apply with a little pay cut. Learn things quickly adapt to new lessons. And then develop some good ideas.
Best of luck,
Also refresh yourself on some of the materials presented to you | |

| Yeahhh, I'm not alone!! I am also an administrative assistant (former legal secretary) going into the IT field. I am about 2/3rds the way through an associates in Computer Network Administration. Almost all of the guys above and behind the women have jobs in the field already. I have chased after several quite hard with no luck.
Most of those guys I know don't own anything but jeans. Should I not be wearing my dress suit for interviews?? It's not like the jobs I am applying for require climbing telephone polls, and I assumed I should look as professional as I can. Any thoughts?
Thanks

| HI to everyone that is tring to get into IT! This is just like when you got out of high school - How can you get experience if you can't get the job, but you can't get a job without experience. I jumped from working 15 years in the office in Credit/Collections to an entry level IT. I found mine through a temp agency. Temp agencies know who will give an unknown or unexperienced IT person a chance and who won't. I also took a job outside the field I wanted - IT like any field the same people circulate in the area. Get your name out there and with a good repution (and a good referance) it might be easier to get that next job. Also work on getting your Certification remember kids in school today are already know the stuff we're learning.

| The best way is to go to a place where after they train you they also offer job placement. Unless you already know someone in the industry that has a vacancy. | |

| If your current employer is flexible, maybe you could start solving all or some of the IT issues around the office where you presently work and put that on your resume. Maybe, see if there's a need that you can fill for your current employer. If that need exists, I would just start doing it rather than asking. Sometimes it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. |
