I am certainly glad to see a site that remembers that women are capable of whatever they set their minds to!

Thus, my dilemma...I have been learning a lot about Windows 98, having a put-together system--and having to trace problems frequently. I would like to pursue the MCSE +Internet and make worth of my future.

I am uncertain whether a web-based or online certification will prepare me for the actual job market I might find once certified, so WHERE DO I BEGIN?

The MCSE+Internet option has been discontinued. It was retired when the MCSE NT 4.0 exams were discontinued. The best place to start? Depends on what you are interested in, although an MCP might be a good place to start.

I don't think any time of schooling or certification will prepare you for the "real world" of IT, but it will help you understand the basics and the theory. If you're unsure of where to start consider the CompTIA exams, like A+, Network+, and i-Net+; these are basic, vendor neutral exams, and anything you learn for them will prepare you for any Microsoft, Cisco, Novell, and other tests you may want to consider later. I recommend taking them in the order A+, N+, then i-N+, then you may want to consider Server+ or Certfied Document Imaging Architech. Each of the exams seems to build on the other, so as you progress, you will be doing some further review and the study time should shorten between exams. Give it try. Visit www.comptia.org for more info, and check out the examnotes on this site.

I would recommend you to start with A+ and Network +, and then jump into MCSE.
That's my opinion. If you go with MCSE first, then it will be harder, because you are going to jump into some advanced concepts.

Good Luck,
