| Hi to Everyone especially to MOS Gurus out there!!!
I'm having problem with one of the users computer at work. He needed a file downloaded from the internet and its in Adobe pdf file. He can't download it to his machine so I downloaded it for him. It's actually an application form to apply for a government grant so he needed to fill the fields of the application form in his computer rather than print it out and do it by pen. So, I made his request by editing the file using adobe acrobat professional v6. The file has been edited and it work in my local machine. When I emailed this file as an attachment to him, he can't open it, all he can see was just unreadable characters. I then created a shared folder in his machine and copy my pdf file to his shared folder and pasted the same file inside the shared folder that I have just created to his local machine, and what happened was everytime I right click the mouse inside this folder and select paste to paste that file, it turn up as a word document instead of pdf file. Why his computer is doing that? Has his MS Word been configured by default to convert all pdf file to word.doc file? or is there any other explanation to this?, I believe there is an explanation/solution to all problem, its just a matter of finding it.. Thanks in advance to everyone who would reply to this post.

| Does he have Acrobat Reader on his machine? | |

| yes, I've installed acrobat reader version 6, restarted the computer and tried to open up the pdf file, but the whole file can't be viewed, it was just totally blank. I went back to the shared folder where I pasted the pdf file I've downloaded for him and it's no longer a pdf file but somehow it changes to word document file for whatever reason. If you try to open this file using MS Word, you will end up getting unreadable characters... | |

| Ya, you can't open a .pdf file using word.
Has he tried to open Acrobat and then open the file from there?
Maybe you should email him the file or have him try to download it again. Could be a corrupted copy. That happens sometimes.

| I've downloaded the .pdf file, I can open it using my local machine, I can also open it using his computer, there is no question whether the file is corrupted if this is the case. But if he is the one loged on his local machine, he can't open the file, the file icon is on MS Word, and no longer an acrobat pdf file, I couldn't figure out why everytime he try to open the attached file which is on .pdf, it was just a blank page, but if he open it on MS WORD, the file is completely unreadable. | |

| IMHO . . .
He doesn't have permissions to install the PDF reader, you do. You log in, you can see it. He logs in, he has a corrupted reader. In trying to see the file, he changed the 'runas' to Word. |
