| I think the XP exams are hard. First I tried to take the Excel Expert XP. I failed that one. Then I tried the Excel Core XP. I failed that one also. There are some questions that really need further explanations. You almost have to be a mind reader to know how to answer some questions. I would give examples, but I don't want to violate the non-disclosure agreement. People tell me that once I perfect my "test taking strategy", I will begin to pass. I feel that if you know the material, you shouldn't need a "test taking" strategy.
I like the fact that the tests are not multiple choice. They are an actual application of the program. It would be better if all the questions asked would be something that you might encounter on a job. Probably, as time goes on, the MOS XP tests will improve. They are probably collecting data on the questions asked.
I also found that there were many very important very common things that were not asked on the test. The common things that I am talking about are things that almost everyone with an Excel program will want to use- but they do not test these on the CORE test. Somehow this seems wrong. Again I would give examples, but I don't want to violate non-disclosure on the net. |
