Went to take Excel 2002 Expert today, couldn't take the test because the testing center couldn't figure out how to get the test software to launch. I was there 3 hours while they were on the phone to certiport to resolve the issue--they couldn't figure it out either. Frustrating! I studied, I know the material, I took a day off work to take the test, grrrrrr. So now I'm home with a 'don't call us...'

Guess I'll call Comp USA

Unfortunately the same thing happened to me last year when I took 5 students and traveled 1 1/2 hrs to test. We waited 2 1/2 hrs and went home untested. They gave us vouchers to test for free if we wanted to come back, but it was very frustrating.

Apparently there are technical difficulties in being a testing center

The administrator never applied the software upgrade (that she was notified of--a month ago), and she also couldn't remember her password. That was the first hour. The second hour she couldn't work one of the controls (to allocate something.) She called certicorp tech support and they were adamant it was due to something on her end.

I do PC tech support for a living and was not very happy with the level of competence exhibited by the test administrator. Sorry you had trouble too but I feel a little better. Wish I could charge her for the vacation day I wasted though.

The test administrators are not techies, though. They know how to read a checkoff list and do what they've been trained to do. They have a nice job title, Testing Administrator, but guess what--these people don't know half of what you know, and they don't have to to make their $6.50 an hour.

yes, there have been many problems at testing sites. All I can say is call the testing site, and verify that the testing software is working properly. As a former test administrator, I would test my machines almost daily. The biggest problem areas, that I had anyway, were with Access and Outlook. Outlook especially. I don't know, but that is why I think Outlook has 6 or 7 multiple choice questions. The softwar is very difficult to grade.
