| Hello all,
I've been lurking the A+ board for a couple yrs now, never did get the cert... kept putting it off, then miraculously landed a new job thru a friend (is there any other way to get 1 these days?). The new gig could be seen as a bit of a 'step down' from where i was (sort of just the go-to puter gal, jill of all trades but master of squat); but I am thrilled with it nonetheless. The title is a Data Systems Specialist, and during my 1st month I've had a couple Access2K projects to do. Nothing fancy mind you, but I sure learned a lot on my own doing them. I have the Sybex Mastering Office 2000 book, and it answered a couple questions, but not as thoroughly as I would've liked.
I see that the pickin's are slim for good Access books, and I've already looked at what seem to be the 3 or 4 better ones. One explains 1 subject well but not another, etc. Any opinions from anyone going for the cert? Right now the book will be used for helping me with work projects still to come, but eventually I'd like to take a whack at the Access cert. I don't "need" it for the new job, don't need any certs (another reason I hosed the A+ idea), but it just seems natural to get certified once I get up to speed with the product.
Hopefully no one from the A+ board will see me over here.... in January, when I was lost and not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel in my previous job, I "announced" that I was scheduling the exam for this month! Then I got the new job and it just didn't seem to make any sense. And I have to learn so many new things in this position too, such as InformixSQL, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, a student info system, etc., that studying for A+ just didnt' seem to make sense anymore.
Ok, this was a very long road to a short quesiton about Access 2k books!
Thx for any answers.
