| Hiya Everyone
I have achieved MOUS Master 2000 level a while ago ,currently registering as an Authorised Instructor, I am also an I T Tutor covering all sorts of I T qualifications , I was wondering if anyone out there knew of any good online or downloadable testing engines for my students , I have found some, but would be grateful if anyone could offer me some additional information. I find these test to be of great help to the students as they get familiar with the type of questions likely to be asked.
Thanks

| I have tried, so far, 2 different test products:
"Measure Up" - VERY Disappointing and awful. I wasted my money on this one.
DDC puts out, what I think is an EXCELLENT testing product. Many training (bus. schools) seem to use DDC, and I like their stuff. They have special books for just the MOUS certs. as well as on MS Office at different levels. The Cert. CD includes an evaluation copy of the DDC testing tool, which u can get separately and THAT also comes in single-user and licensing modes. I noticed that besides several different types of exams on EACH MOUS topic, they divided it into Core, Expert, and a topic called "20 MOUS traps" which is quite challenging. In addition, they have a mode where you can create a customized exam that tests only the skills you choose.
The exams simulate the MOUS exam (i.e., you have to DO things rather than a multi-choice). Also, the cert. book has a VERY nice end-of-chapter challenge that I think will make for an EXCELLENT homewaork project for your students.
BTW - I am also a trainer, and, while my scholl is not using the DDC, I use their items for my exams there.
Good luck,

| Thanks dpdan
I haven't tried measure up yet , but i will take your word for it , i tried their tests at the time i was doing A+ , I wasn't particularly impressed with them for A+ so i would imagine their MOUS stuff is not particularly geat either
Now DDC, however is a totally different matter, I was well impressed with their software, i have tried it out on a few students with promising results. Only problem is, it costs quiet a lot to buy. I think my demo of this product runs out shortly, (very good demo it is too)
If you come across any other software like DDC please let me know
again , thx | |

| You MAY be able to get a DESK copy from DDC by mentioning that you are a trainer at a school. Try it! It worked for me! If you run into a problem, let me know. I will probably be taking the Excel MOUS Exam at DDC later this week, so I'll ask them.

| Thanks again dpdan
I'm not sure if they would give me a DESK copy as you call at, as although i train , i train at a training company, not a school, so im not sure that they would look at it in the same light, but it is certainly worth a try. I would love to get my hands on a full working copy of the program as i think it is excellent
Thank you again for your help | |

| Try the $20 CD that Certiport just released. It has practice questions in MOUS Exam format for all 2000 exams and all XP exams except Outlook. A steal at that price! | |

| thanks tlstyles
I have ordered the CD, not sure what the shipping is going to cost me yet, but its worth a look at anyway.
I am curious to see if it is similar to IQ Desktop, its ok, but not as good as DDC. I think there is a new CD to be released within the next week called T-Prep ,its from a company in Ireland called prodigy , not sure what the charge for it will be yet, but its worth keeping an eye out for.
Thanks again | |

| Good Tips. I have Nita Rutkowsky for Office2000, seems ok but no way to check my work. Would you happen to know of a link for DDC? | |
| Cher800 2002-05-09, 6:49 pm |
| Hiya grang
DDC address is www.ddcpub.com, you can download a demo of the software from this site, it is a full working copy but limited to a certain number of days, can't remember how many, but it contains all the office applications, which i found to be of great use to my students. I am hoping to get my hands on a full working copy with no restrictions shortly. If you find any other useful information please let me know
Happy Computing | |

| Thanks Cher!
I'll check it out. | |

| Hi Cher800:
Glad u liked the DDC stuff. I thought they were the best I have found; not that I have explored every possibility. But, I guess there's a rule that when you find something you like, you stick with it, right?
The DDC demo, is the ONLY MOUS demo I have seen that really simulates WELL what the actual MOUS exam will be like. I.e., it works with the REAL MS Office operating (not a "fake" or partial version). This means u can use ANY method to answer each question, and you are not immediately marked wrong once you make a mistake in the middle. (Measure Up software acts in this unforgiving manner. I bought one of their products, and I wasted my money on it.)
The URL for the free demo is:
http://www.ddcpub.com/testing/demoreq.asp
BTW, Cher, let me know how well the "license" or class version works for you if you use it. I teach now Intro Excel 2000, and I may convince the school manager to get a copy for school use.
Thanks,

| Hi Dpdan
I agree totally with what u say about DDC, I have tried some other software for MOUS but none have came anywhere near DDC's.
Ideally I would like a full working copy of DDC but I will have to do a lot of sweet talking to my boss to get it.
Some other software/sites you could try :
www.certifypro.com
This site has some software downloads as well as online quizes,
www.skilldrill.com
This site has online tests for lots of different subjects |
