Which study guides? (Paisleyskye?)
|
|
|
| I have Office 97 and Office 2000 and I want to get some MOUS certs for these. Can someone help me with advice?
What are the recommended books? Any web-based or interactive CD courses that are good?
I have some experience, should I start with the fundamental exams, or just study and go for the intermediate or expert level?
I'd appreciate your advice. | |

| The Complete Reference books for the Office applications are excellent preparation. The are called The Complete Reference: Excel 2000 etc.
Also - Learnkey has some excellent interactive CD's. They show everything, have excercises and challenges and have a test at the end that is actually quite similar to the real exams.
There are only two levels of exams:
For the Office 97 track there is the Proficient and the Expert level examinations.
For the Office 2000 track there are the Core and the Expert level examinations.
Of course you can obtain master level certification if you pass:
For office 97 - the Proficient PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access exams as well as the Expert Word and Excel exams.
For Office 2000 - the core PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access exams as well as the Expert Word and Excel exams.
Hope this helps. | |

| Thanks a lot Paisleyskye. Is it better to go for 97 or 2000? I think 2000. Is there any difference in the value of the certs? Also there are the MOUS Essentials Books (with CD)on Amazon with good reviews - do you know about them? (Sorry about all the questions) | |

| I'd recommend the Office 2000 User Specialist Study Guide by Courter and Marquis, assuming you are fairly proficient in the applications already. Cramsession.com and Certifyexpress.com and of course ExamNotes.net also offer free study guides. Certiport , the makers of the MOUS exams offers reasonably priced certification kits, which includes exam vouchers and an exam simulator. MeasureUp Software also has good simulation software for Office 2000 MOUS exams. | |

| The only tool I have used so far is an online teaching and it has helped me past my tests..using only this and it's not expensive. www.power2learn.com For like 6mo it's only something like $49.99
Good luck |
