Hello Everybody - I'm just getting around to my MOUS certification studying and I have a question. How is training on Office 97 products relate to the testing for the 2000 versions?

I don't really want to buy the upgrade if I don't have to.

Thanks

There are some obvious differences. First, the clipboard. 97, only one item at a time, in 2000, 12 items can be stored on the clipboard. This task IS on the 2000 exam - Using multiple items on the clipboard.

The help system is slightly different among the two versions as well.

Functions and formulas are pretty much teh same for testing purposes anyway.

I would consider how many companies are still using Office 97? Most likely, if companies have upgraded their server OS to W2K from NT, they have also moved to Office 2000, which is my experience. SoI would focus on Office 2000.

There still is not a lot of Office XP out there yet.

Also, I believe the 97 Office exams are retired, making your decision then obvious if true.

There are a lot of little differences, also Office 2K is also much more web-centric.

I wouldn't recommend it. I have just started on the path to MOSMT, I use Office 2K at work but Office XP at home. While I am quite strong on Word and Excel, I have found that lack of familiarity really through me when I had a quick look at Access XP today. I expect you will have similar problems and I have been using Office XP since early beta testing days.

I expect you would probably save the purchase price of an Office upgrade over the probable need to re do one or more exams a few times.

Cheers
