| Is there anyone out there that has gone for the access exam? I wonder if you can tell me a bit about your experiences with studying and also the exam. I am thinking of taking this exam and wondering what in the world I could/should I study? Are there any online self testing software? What about the exam prep book for Access 2000? Any info would be greatly appreciated  Thanks! | |

I am using the same book too.Are yu talking of the Expert or Core Exams ? If its core, I believe the book is more than enough and covers all the tested objectives well.
I would also be interested in any additional info that may come up related to this exam.

| Yes, I have thought about the expert exams. I still have not had much feedback on the Access exam by experienced test takers....I like the exam prep books for everything else it seems..so this is the direction I think I am headed..you must not have felt that this book was informitive enough for the expert exams? Are there any practice exams out there? Other than Brainbench. | |

| I have not come across any tests. What I am doing is printing Cramsessions(which cover most of the test objectives as given in the MOUS site).Then I run through the actual menus on the product itself and test alternative ways of achieving the same objective or result.

I am currently working on getting my MOUS master certification. I have passed the word and excel expert test and I am currently working on Access 2000. I believe that in office’97 that there was a core and expert level, but in the office 2000 there is only one Access exam, which is the expert level. I found many books to be helpful for the word and excel test (which include the complete reference series), but unfourtunally they don’t make an Access book. I used the Cheat Sheet Microsoft Word and Excel 2000 book and theses were right on. If you are familiar with the applications already these books will prepare you for the test. They go over everything you need to know. The practice test at the end of each chapter is very similar to the task you need to complete the test. I scored in the 900’s in each of these test. I highly recommend these books if you want to pass the test not learn the complete application. The book they offer is Cheat Sheet Microsoft Access 2000 by Joe Habraken and Doug Klippert. Theses books are quick and to the point. Good Luck with your test!J

| Yes, there is only one Access examination in the 2000 track.
As per books, the Complete Reference for Access 2000 is excellent, and believe it or not, so is the Access 2000 For Dummies book. I actually keep the Dummies book next to my desk because I have to frequent it often. (I probably shouldn't admit to people that I need to keep the dummies book on hand for a quick reference - but I do) | |

| I used the Cheat Sheet books too and I also think they are very good if you are already familiar with the applications. If you are starting from scratch I wouldn't suggest using them because they are more geared to the actual test. They give you end of chapter questions that are very similar to the real test questions, and it also comes with a CD that has the solutions to the questions, so you can check if you got them right.
They are more like practice tests than study guides and if you are able to answer the questions correctly you'll definitely pass.
The books are pretty cheap they are only about $20 each and are the closest thing to practice tests that I can think of. They make a good supplement to the Complete Reference books or the Sybex study guides. | |

| Thanks so much for this. I plan to get the Cheat sheets so it might be that they direct me to what the exam "wants" hopefully the Exam Prep will show me in depth if I don't understand. My problem is that the "tests" I have taken with word, excel, access. Is that there is a certain way they want you to answer the question. Basiclly their way. There has been no room for "shortcuts".It has proven to be quite frusterating.
Also, I am getting different feedback on these exams. Correct me if I am wrong but my take on this is that I may take the MOUSE Access exam and become certified in Access alone, without having to take the other "office family" of tests...am I understanding this correctly? I am hearing several people refer to this test as if they have had to complete those exams before the access exam. It is confusing me

The first 8 Lessons of the Exam Prep Book (Units A-H) cover the objectives of the mous 2000 exam and the hands on approach will give yu the confidence.I will be giving the exam in 4 days.
By the way someone tell me what is the Pass Mark for the Access 2000 Core Mous Test.

| To correct one of the earlier posts, MS Access 2000 is only available at the CORE level, not expert. |
