| Hi, I don't know if this is the right forum for this question, here it goes.
Recently I bought two Cisco 2524 routers and an HP advancestack switch with 24 ports, both routers have 2 serial interfaces and 1 ethernet interface, for my CCNA exam I decided to conect my home network to these routers and switch; right now I connected 2 serial interfaces together with a DTE/DCE cable and I have one Netgear switch on one router and the HP switch on the other router, on the Netgear switch I have a server running Win 2003 Server and also have a laptop on the switch. On the HP switch I have one XP machine, one print server and a wireless router (acting like a hub), at the wireless router I have a wireless access point that is pointing at my neighbor's house to get cable Internet from his house. Well the whole network communicates fine eccept the Internet, I can ping all the equipment eccept the Internet but if I change the gateway to the XP machine from 197.19.74.120 to 197.19.74.1 which is the Internet's gateway it works fine but this way I cannot communicate with anything over the routers. I have 2 more serial interfaces available with a cable, is there a way (I know there is) to have the Internet and routers and computer to communicate without changing the gateway? The server and the laptop on the other router won't get Internet even if I change the gateway, I can't even ping it. Please if someone knows the answer to this question let me know because I have been searching evrywhere for the answer for weeks, thank you in advance and sorry for the bad spelling. | |
