I am using Cisco 2600 routers with T1 CSU/DSU WIC's. I can't seem to get the link up using ppp. Can someone share a base config for the serial interfaces that they know will work? Thanks in advance.

How many routers do you have?

What type of cable are you using?

Sorry, real world unfortunately. I have a feeling it is the carrier having an issue after the latest hurricane that blew through here. 2 Routers, both 2600's. The circuit is a fractional T1 256k.

"up down" which usually is a carrier issue. But I want to be sure with my config.

unlikly your config, it would be better for you to paste the config in of your serial i/f's

interface Serial0/1
description connection to Firestation9
ip address 172.16.11.1 255.255.255.252
no ip directed-broadcast
encapsulation ppp
no ip mroute-cache

The other interface is the same except the IP address is .2

It has been a while since I have needed to setup any T1's, but correct me if I am wrong, the service-modules are default and should be fine. PPP is pretty basic right?

If this is a fractional T1 you will also need to specify how many timeslots are being used. If using 384K for example it would be service-module t1 timeslots 1-6.

Believe you would be down/down if the channels were mapped wrong.
