Does Ciscoworks 2000 incorporate CSPM. I have a 4210 sensor IDS that I want to put on the network.

Which applications should I use to manage my IDS Sensor, and what is the difference between them?

A. You can use either Cisco Secure Policy Manager (CSPM) or UNIX Director. The main difference between the two is that CSPM runs as an independent application on a Windows server, while UNIX Director runs on top of HP OpenView on a UNIX Solaris server. With IDS 3.1, the Sensors can also be managed through IDS Event Viewer (IEV) installed on a PC.

Plus there is something called IDS Device Manager (IDM) . To access you have to enable IDM from sensor-config and then on your browser type : https://sensor-ip-address , it will work . Thats really cool you can check this out . About CSPM and director i am not sure someone else can tell you about this

CW2000 also has some "new" modules that are add-ons. I just learned the VPN Router Manager, which is a subset of the VPN/Security Management bundle:

Here's the specific page for the IDS Manager portion:

Thanks...

I've attached a toplogy that I made on a sample network to get an idea where the 4210 will be placed in the network. I just had a few questions about setting the default route on the sensor.

Perm Router e0:172.16.31.2
3rd party IDS 172.16.31.3
PIX outside 172.16.31.4
DMZ: 192.168.3.1/24
Inside 192.168.2.1/24
4210: 192.168.2.5/24
CSPM(ciscoworks):192.168.2.10/24
Internal router
E0: 192.168.2.2/24
E1:192.168.1.1/24 (where the inside network resides)

Thanks
