I've heard that the new CCIE written exam (new since July) is truly harder than it was previously. Have anybody taken it?
I think the older was hard enough for me !!

yes, the concensus is that it is much harder
150 questions now and people who run bootcamps and training have gone out and taken it say it is much harder then they remember.

I've bought this book, but is very much easier than "traditional" Doyle's books.
It's nice because it covers all new program, but I suppose it's not going to be enough to prepare this exam.
CCNP was very very simple for me. Concepts at CCIE program are easy for me. But I'm afraid they've risen the level because of some overload at lab exams.
I think I'm going to prepare this exam working a lot with lab exercises. And this experience will help with the on-hands exam.

Thanks for your comments.

I took the Beta exam 351-001 which was the beta for the new CCIE exam.

Yes it was much harder and covered MPLS and VoIP also.

The exam had complex Qos equations and some problems took 10 minutes or so to figure the problem out.

I ran short on time and had to guess at the last 7 questions.

(It does help to be able to decode RIF's quickly also.)

I have passed the old exam and just squeaked by the new, but please be aware you can pass a beta with a margin of 50 percent. So if it was the real deal I would have most assuredly failed.

Study hard and budget your time well.

Good Luck!

All those who've seen it say it is a mean one, but I'm hearing of people starting to pass it. I tried rushing into the old version and struck out. Keep in mind - the lab is changing in Oct 2002 - no more Cats, they're being replaced by the 3550's. Don't know about you guys, but I'm incorporating that in my studies as well...

Yes, unfortunately I was too quick to buy a Catalyst 5000 and SupII engine and now have a 60lb doorstop.

I may sell it on E-bay but at last check there are a couple there.

The 3550 is a bit more expensive.
