Need help in CCIE security.

| Hi, I'm new to this discussion group. I am planning on doing CCIE security. I need help in knowing what classes I should take and where would be the best place to take it in the area of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Connecticut. I will be attending classes in PIX firewall and VPN locally, but I need to know where I can get training for CCIE security as a whole. I need to know of a "good" place where they will make it as close as possible to the actual CCIE Lab. Also I need to know which books are recommended to read in order to do my best in the Qualification exam.

| i'd get css1 at a minnimum
global knowledge is the only one who claims to have ccie security, but it's just r&s plus css1
classes so don't waste your money.
a boson might help you assess your readyness for the written.
and get at a minnimum a pix 501 or better unless you are really experienced with the pix.
remember this is an expert cert, not a walk in the park. ccbootcamp also has security prep.

| Thanx for all the help. You said I should get CCS1 at the minimum. Can you please tell me where would be the best places to take courses for CCS1. Also I went to this website: http://www.mcseclasses.com/security_cisco_css1.cfm
It says here that CCS1 courses include VPN, PIX, firewall, and intrusion detection systems. If I take the CCS1 course, will that include the PIX 501 that you are referring to? Where, in your opinion would be the best place for me to sign up for this course? Appreciate the help.

| well PIX Firewall is having different models the smallest one is 501(if i am wrong guys then correct me ) so this does not means that you must use 501 what he meant by 501 is that you should get some hands on . May be in the course you will do lab on 515 or 525 or 535 .... It depends what they are using in their lab . You can ask them these questions .
