Lab Exam Content and Equipment Changes

CCIE candidates should note changes to the technical content and equipment in the lab exam.
Effective October 1st, 2002, candidates will no longer be tested in the areas of IGRP, Token Ring, Token Ring Switching, or IPX.
Note: DLSW+ will remain as a protocol that can be tested in the lab.
The Catalyst 5500 switch will be replaced with the Catalyst 3550.

But they are not just going to drop these subjects and not add anything. We will all have to wait and see what's coming up. I have my lab scheduled for Nov. 1st, so I miss the cutoff. I don't think whatever they will add can be learned in the 30 days I'll have to learn it before the exam.

I have those topics too, especially Token ring. Thank God. If not token ring I would have tried that exam several monthes ago. I couldn't just understand that Token Ring. Thanks for the update...
Without people like in this forun, most of us, like me, would be behind useful info.

The 3550 has alot of new features to learn, I would have prefered it if they kept the 5500 in. I'm taking my Lab in december, I really hope they don't add alot of stuff after Oct. 1st.

Hoping you can answer this. Will this mean that RSRB and other TR-related bridging will be voided as well? Just curious as I was about to purchase some 2501s.

darthfaces why they are removing all these technologies from the lab ? 1st they make it from 2 day lab to 1 day lab . Now you can see that their are 3000 CCIEs per year so cisco they should make the lab more difficult to keep the standard . You guys have any idea why they are making it more easier every year ?

I was checking with cisco, they are not making it more easier , but they are going to test you more in depth on the subjects that are left , which is better then becoming a master of TR switches since i do not need them.
