| Well I failed the CCIE Written today with a score of 66%. I thought I knew the material pretty well, missed missed on a couple key themes.
Well, another week of studying and I'm going after it again.

| There you go. Pick yourself up and better preparation. Never let an exam take control over you.
Best of luck to you... | |

| I have resheduled this exam for next week. I have been studying my brains out. I have found that Boson Exam 3 is a good study tool, and covers a lot of the stuff I had in the exam. It sucks to fail, and waste 300. Let me know when you take it. | |

| I figure the best way is to take it about Tuesday, so I don't forget what I already know and have to restudy it. I'm am going to go off of the analysis that I got after the exam and work on the stuff that I scored low in. By the way, I seemed to score very low in the Security section too.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you Aken.

the person who i purchased my lab from got his
number on the fourth attempt.
madchef set a hell of an example passing on the first try.
this has served me to not even
schedule it until i'm ready.

You flatter me. If you have experience, you've prepared well for the exam and are a decent test taker, then passing first try isn't a big deal, is it?
I think there are two big reasons why people fail the lab so often:
1) They haven't spent enough time on the equipment
2) They are totally intimidated by The Lab and psyche themselves out.
I did not spend that much time in the practice lab. Maybe 60-80 hours. I know the stuff fairly well from doing most everything on the lab during a project at sometime, though. But I've been doing this for a long time and not so many people are as fortunate (or as lazy as me by waiting so long to take the lab).
I think #2 is the biggie. I think people see the CCIE lab as this Holy Grail of certs and have mentally failed the lab before they even walk in. The horror stories that you hear about it only feed this fear. It's just another test! That's all. The fact that I finished in plenty of time, triple-checked all my work, looked up a ton of stuff and still left early should help convince you that you can beat this lab, and beat it soundly.
Being prepared is the easiest thing to do. Then take that preparedness and go into the lab with confidence in your abilities, faith in yourself, faith in God, faith in the good luck charm in your pocket or whatever works for you and you can beat #2.
Anyway, that was my mini-rant. Don't go in there expecting to fail just because you've heard of so many other people who have. Go in there expecting to pass because so many other people have!
