What study material do you guys recommend for the Lab exam. Is there a book available that has only practice labs from front to back?

it seems ccbootcamp.com 's lab subscription is the
most complete thing out there. but if you don't
have all the equiptment you can't do all the labs.
if your starting out try the all in one guide or
carl solie's ccie practical studies.

darthfaces are you talking about the following books ?

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/A...1539028-8484757

http://ciscopress.com/catalog/product.asp?product_id={9E5835BB-4972-4956-B7F7-B4C8AE56C918}

Do you have these books if yes then just tell me that scenarios given in these books are complex and good for lab preperation or not if we are preparing for lab by ourselves because in the table of contents the topics covered in both books are also in ccna & ccnp books and you know very well that in all these 5 books you will find out also some lab scenarios . just want to know your view because i am intrested to get these one . thx

The Solie book is pretty good (but watch for errors) but the All-in-one guide isn't worth my time or the paper it was printed on.
When you can start picking out the errors in Solie, you've probably started to master the subject.

I was reading through the Frame-Relay section of Practical Studies Vol 1 last night & ended up questioning most of what I thought I already knew. Compared to the same section in the Caslow book there is either some conflict of opinion or it is just one persons interpretation of the same subject.
If I remember correctly the confusing section was in relation to frame-relay map statements & when or when not to use them. There is a really confusing explanation in tabular format.

Other than that I'm finding it a very useful book & I agree that when you start to question the validity of what you are reading, you are really starting to get to grips with the subject.

many people do use it for the written.
it's a monster of a book though (900+ pages)
then read it again when you are well into ccie prep and it will all make sense
(we'll that's at least what i've heard.)

I'm now reading some of sections of the Caslow book for the second or third time & find myself saying 'Ahhh! So that's what he meant the first time I read this!!'

Just goes to show that if you read something enough times then eventually some of it starts to stick.

Thank god for that.

I've discounted the Caslow book in the past for lacking depth. But out of all the books I own, that one is the most worn because I found my self going back to it over and over again. So take that however you will. His discussion of NBMA and OSPF over NBMA is second to none.

Karl Solie's book is OK (cheapest) but has a lot of errors including lab solutions. Also, simulate the BGP sample scenarios in Doyle's book so you feel confident about BGP.

Print out the IOS 12.1 Configuration Guide and Command reference. In my opinion, that's the best study materials for the lab.
