| What is the MTU for token ring? I have seen everywhere that it is 17800, but just saw an examcram question stating that it is 17997. Which is it? | |
|
| I have just done "sh dlsw reach" on a token router with DLSW on 16 Mbit/s Token Ring
for one MAC address I have got this:
"4007.5010.3290 FOUND REMOTE 10.1.1.75(2065) max-lf(17800)"
in this case I have "17800" as largest frame
In fact the largest frame is dépendant of the rif field
example: 0830 H -> 0000 1000 0011 0000
int the third quartet "0011" ==> 4472 as lf
by example:
001 --> 1500
.
.
011 --> 4472
110 --> 17800
111 --> 64000 (I have never seen that, perhaps between interface channel)
As "17997", I don't Know where it is comes from, this is a strange value.
17997 -17800 = 197, 197 for what ?
In fact, I speak about "largest frame" and you about "MTU", perhaps, the
difference is here... or that is an error ..
But perhaps somebody in this forum knows that. I will check...
|
| I have extract this from CISCO WEB about the
cat 3900 (switch token)
"In the User Guide, the possible values listed for the MTU field are 1500, 4472,
8144, and 17800."
no information baout the 17997: probably an error.
