Quick question for the group. I have seen people talking about scheduling the lab and how long you have to take it after passing the written. I haven't seen anything on how soon after the written you can schedule the lab. How quick can this be done? Can I pass the written and then take the lab the next day?

Just wondering.

You can schedule the Lab on the first open date at the location of your choice.

For me, it took more than a day or two just to get my written score report entered into their system so I could schedule the lab. From what I remember, it was about a week before I could even try to schedule a lab. The closest available date for me was 9 months out. If you repeatedly hit the site looking for dates you can find one closer because someone cancelled their date, though. Is it likely to find one the next day? Not very, but I suppose you could. I know people who retook the exam on the spur of the moment (in a relative sense) because a time opened up.

Thanks for the responses! I don't plan on trying the lab the day after the written

, but just wondered from a scheduling standpoint how I could plan the testing. Gotta have goals with dates!

as soon as you pass up until 18 months
for the first attempt. after that 1 per year
for three years. if you don;t pass by then
you have to retake the written

Written Exam Expiry
Candidates must attempt the CCIE Lab exam within 18 months of passing the CCIE Qualification exam. After the first lab attempt, candidates must attempt the CCIE lab at least once every 12 months from the last lab attempt in order for their qualification exam to remain valid. However, if a candidate has not passed the CCIE Lab exam within three years of passing the qualification exam, he or she must retake the CCIE qualification exam before the candidate will be allowed to schedule the lab exam again.
