There are no way you can pass the practical lab by just attend a 12d-day hands-on lab. If any training class tell you that, then you know you don't need to consider that class because they are lying. Cisco training partner like Global Knowledge have pretty of training course, even you take all their training course, you still need a lot of working experience and your own home lab. If CCIE is so easy, they won't get their reputation and respect and it is not worth to get it.

Those CCIE pre-lab training expected that you are ready for the real practical exams and give you a feel of doing the real one under extreme time pressure and without hestation instead of train you up to attend the lab.

To give you some feel of experience required, I am prepare the lab exams and having 6 years experience in networking. Now practiing with a home lab of 7 routers and preparing for the lab full time for nearly two months and I still don't have much confidence to pass it the first time.

If you want some feel of the practical exams, you can take a look at

http://www.ccbootcamp.com/sample_labs.htm

and see if you are comfortable with that.

The books I used to preparing for the CCIE lab is as follow:
Routing TCP/IP volume 1 by Jeff Doyle
Cisco Certification Bridge, Routers and Switches for CCIE by Bruce Caslow
Internet Routing Architecture by Halabi
CCIE Lab practice Kit
www.ccbootcamp.com lab practice labs
www.ccprep.com lab fasttrack

And remember subscribe the mailing list of the CCIE lab at www.groupstudy.com
See you at base camp (CCIE written) and I hope you can climb the peak (CCIE #????) in the near future.

Hope this can help and there are long way to go.

Hi vr2zjw ,

Thanks for the suggestion , I am not intending to take the exam immediately after the training. what i want to know is about how this will help in taking the exam later after working on the 12 day taining,i dont have any one to guide me so i am thinking of going for this after which i can work on my own till i feel confident enough for taking the exam. Here in UAE it costs 5k USD for 12 days . what is the price for the same in Singapore ?

I can't answer your question since I haven't taken such training. But US 5k for me a hell a lot of money and can built a decent lab consist of plenty of 2500. And I would rather spend money that way. And you can always sell your lab and have your money back after getting the CCIE.

In Hong Kong, a 5-day pre-CCIE lab probably cost US 2.5K. For that price, I would rather see the real one two times (Or one time only if I am lucky).

Hope this help.

Building your own CCIE lab is the best way to prepare for the real exam and you can sell it and get your money back.
All cisco training is expensive, but their reputation is top-notch

What equipment is in your lab and what did it cost? I am looking into that option, but was curious as to how much it would run.

Thanks

Does that consist of any ATM? What technologies does one need to be primarily concerned with when building the lab. Checking into that link. Gratzi!

no
consider atm and appletalk removed from the lab
focus on igp's and egp's rip,eigrp,ospf,bgp
know the basic's of a cat5000.

Really

This is from the Cisco CCCIE R&S site:
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/62...s/ATM_FAQs.html

1.Will I need to configure an ATM switch?
Candidates will not be required to configure an ATM switch. However, they may be required to connect to a switch that is external to their rack.

2.What ATM related equipment will I need to configure?
The candidate should be prepared to configure any ATM interfaces that will operate on the equipment listed on the Routing & Switching exam Equipment List.

3.How much weight will ATM have on the exam?
The exact percentage will vary between versions of the exam. Like most additions to the lab test, the initial weighting will be fairly small and then increase as the tests change over time.

4.Where do I find out more on ATM for the test?
Candidates should check the CCIE Routing and Switching reading list and the Cisco documentation on configuring ATM. Further questions should be addressed by e-mail to the CCIE regional contacts:

So now I'm really confused

My company is paying for some courses.
I am looking at "after my CID tuesday"
doing CCIE written this summer and doing a global knowledge 2 day lab simulation and/or a 1 week lab course.
Then using the lab rack we are setting up at work for several months all of this with a training partner.

want until it is "officially" removed
