CCIE is not as easy as goal . First you have to do CCNA then CCNP & then you should go for CCIE . And for CCIE cisco recommends atleast 2 years of practical experience . Try to get practical experience as much as you can . Here is the link which will show you the whole information for CCIE .

Good luck

The way I am doing it is this.
After my MCSE
I did CCNA to get a firm start.
Then worked my way through CCNP
which was 4 tests
then got my CCDA which was another test
I am taking CCDP soon and then study for a month or 2 for the CCIE qualifying exam.
Then I will give myself 9 months to a year to complete the 1 day lab exam.
I have been doing this using self study until recently, I got a learning adantage account for my company with Global Knowledge
and have taken the Cisco Internetwork Design course.
Next mont I am doing the Building Cisco Scalable Internetworks, and before my lab test I plan to take a 2 day lab simulation course.
All the time practicing on a lab rack my manager and I have built consisting of
2500 series 2 2600 series routers a 2900 xl series switch and a couple cat 1900 series switches.
We are preparing to add a 3640 to the rack.
At work we use 3000 series gigabit switches
a 2500 dialup router a PIX 515 a 7200 series router with ATM and OC3 modules.
Also some of our sites have 1600 series access routers.
With all this I feel I will be lucky if I pass the first time I take it.

You want to have two different approaches for preparing for your CCIE. The first approach needs to be focused on the written exam. You'll have to get a book or two and some practice questions. I've helped author a really good CCIE Written book: http://www.ccbootcamp.com/rswritexam.asp

The other approach will be geared towards the lab exam. You'll need some hardware at home, some practice lab scenarios, and some remote-rack time (for the ATM and Voice portions). Along with that, you'll also want a few more books (Halabi, Caslow, Solie, just to name a few).

Also, feel free to join up at:

(A newly created forum for R&S topics)

Good luck!

off topic , but

i see you have 501's in stock
question
they only have two interfeces
can you still configure a dmz host or would you
have to use
static mapping /
conduit - access list

CHODAN
when you pass the written join the groupstudy ccie lab list. the majority pass on 2nd, 3rd attempts.
i'm now sufficently scared that i think i'll try next spring. you have 18mo to make the 1st attempt than 1 year between additional attempts.
with the 1 day lab speed and accuracy are everything
and of course babbleing config to your wife in your sleep.
i am now arranging to buy a lab from someone to just passed on the fourth attempt.

CCIE. What I understand, this is the king of all exams ever created and faced in the world. As i have understood only 2400 people worldwide have reached this certification

1024 is the lab
1025 is the first ccie
and 8791 was given within the last couple of days
so ... roughly 7767 #'s given out but ... not all are active.

as I joined a couple days ago.
