| Hi everyone,
I am preparing my CCIE written. The study guide uses the term "wire speed" when explaining Layer 2 Switching. So what is wire speed? How is it different from high speed?
Thanks | |

| Wire speed = speed of the medium. So if it's 100BaseT you're talking about, switching that at wire speed involves switching 100 megabits per second per port. The idea that the speed of the medium (Fast ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, etc) is not impeded by the switch.
Make sense?
