| I've become so delirious that I forgot why i answered this post.
Oh Yeah ! I ordered caslow too from amazon.com. It take 2-3 weeks to deliver. So, i've got to suffer for all that time patiently (Must be due to seasonal increase in Cisco patients)

| FastIp,
I order mine last week and I got it this morning....Man let me tell you this is like a drug the more I read, the more I wanto read, it is like it never ends...The more interesting part is the more I learn it looks like the less I know(ja...ja...ja)then I need to read more and more and more....I just wander what will happen when eventually one day I become CCIE..what will be next....I feel like I am sick but I love it.....I am becoming a cisco junk....well I hope I am not the only one....

I'm sure that after CCIE you'll think of ways to keep up your addiction/habit. After CCIE R&S there's Communications and Services and Security.
Enough there to get your daily fix !

| The Caslow book is very good and I think he does an excellent job of explaining the issues of NBMA and it's impact on various routing protocols, for one. But his book is SO broad. He really can't dedicate the space he needs to adequately discuss the topics in the depth needed for the LAB. Just keep that in mind as you read it.

| The Caslow book is wonderful. I agree it's very broad, but I've been using it all the way with CCNP to "fill in the gaps". I usually buy from Bookpool and get very good prices from them ....7K for the home lab seems like a bargain - I told my husband 12K... | |

| look @
ccie practical studies just got it.
it focuses on lab prep. brad ellis, who's been
posting here recently did a review on it.
it's not the end all be all but with that and caslow were well on our way.

I already have spent almost 8k and looking to spend more..... least I can resell it
For about 10K you can cover everything except ATM (including a 3900 token ring switch).

| darthfeces 2002-01-21, 7:54 pm |
| i'ts wonderful and i've heard it said that after
you've read it and are well into your lab prep go back and read it again and all will become clearer.
it's only drawback is lack of bgp , but that's
what we have halabi's internet routing arc
for
my new toy is solie's practical studies.
also what avenue's are people using for building their lab's
ebay ? resellers ??? word of mouth ?

| Just got my Caslow's book.
Any1 read that preface page?
xl, line 10 :
Therefore, mastering the Cisco IOS and the related internetworking technologies to the point of attaining CCIE certification should be viewed as a foundational beginning rather than an end.
Hmmmm what is that supposed to mean...?
| Yeti-GBR1 2002-01-22, 12:09 pm |
| Basically once you have mastered the IOS....the whole world of cisco opens up...or may be its deeper than that. Perhaps it means that you are on the road to mastering cisco....damn long road if you ask me | |
| The Ghost 2002-01-22, 2:24 pm |
| I was thinking he meant that getting your ccie is something of a foundation... | |
| ciscogirl 2002-01-23, 9:17 pm |
| Hi Ghost -I'm back....I think he does mean the CCIE is just the foundation for any direction you choose once you get to that level. Are you using the Doyle book, too? Susan | |
| The Ghost 2002-01-24, 8:53 am |
| Heya suze!
Yeh I kinda figured that one out... pretty twisting phrase though.
I got myself that "All in one CCIE Lab Study Guide" by Hutnik and Satterlee along with this Calsow's book. I got it for cheap too (used). |
