Hi!

Is it possible that the book has wrong answers for a lot of practice questions?

eg:
Q: ILMI provides the communications between a frame relay switch and a frame relay end device.

A: A. True B. False
Answer in the book: A

ILMI and frame relay?

bye!

Anything is possible. Have you gone to the publisher's web site to get the errata? I would suggest going there just in case.

2. Integrated Local Management Interface

The Integrated Local Management Interface (ILMI) [2] provides a mechanism for ATM-attached devices, such as hosts, routers, and ATM switches,
to transfer management information. It is based on the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), Version 1, and supports get, get-next, set and trap operations.

The ILMI specification designates the switch side of the ATM link as the 'network side' and the host/router side of the ATM link as the '
user side.'
The Service Registry MIB, which is outlined in Section 3, is implmented on the network side and is queried from the user side.

i wasn't pointing anything out, just
adding to your case.
it seems to me that its just a typo and they meant
just lmi, but i don't know the
context in which it was being presented.

Maybe they mean ELMI, Enhanced LMI ?
I recently came up with this feature while doing lab 2 of IPexpert labs. Here is the link : http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td...m#xtocid2218589 (watch for word wrap).
