Bri interface problws!
|
|
|
| Hello,
Does anyone in here know why my Bri interface(0/1 From Module) will not respond to any signal whatsoever ???
The Interface is up, and there are no relevant error/debug messages being sent.
I'm Trying to incorporate a cisco router into an Elsa type-router network. ("Elsa"= a type of small ISDN-Router)
I'm currently still testing the setup and this interface just isn't showing any signs of life. Can anyone with experience with such routers offer help/Sugestions??? | |

| get your config in here and maybe we can help you with it.. | |
|
| Hey,
Heres a copy of the current configuration. The configuration is only relevant for interface Bri1/0 at the moment as I am testing that at the moment.
just ignore the dialer map, and dialer interface configurations for now!I'd be more than grateful if anyone could help!
Good luck.
..Cheers!
-Pash.

| try debug isdn status | |
|
| Hi,-.....
I guess you meant:
show isdn status
or did you mean----->
debug isdn events
Well I've tried both:
any other tips ????
cheers

| Show isdn status would only be helpful if you had made a call and it doesn't look like you have.
You may want to try debug dialer packet and debug dialer events to see what is going on here. My guess is that the far end is not seeing a call come in, so we have to start back at the calling router. | |

| Thanks alot! Thanks to you I finally found out what the matter was! ....at least the immediate cause.
Please tell me why i keep geting this as output...???(focus is on BRI1/0)
-------->
oks#conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
oks(config)#int bri 1/0
oks(config-if)#dialer-group 1
%A dialer must first be specified (why this?)
oks(config-if)#
and by the way , i received this from the debug dialer entries:
00:12:16: Di1 DDR: cdp, 329 bytes, outgoing uninteresting (no list matched)
However my config seems to be ok!...please take a look:
Cheers!

| the dialer-group command will only work under dialer profiles.
%A dialer must first be specified<-----this represents dialer profiles
(conf)#int dialer0
(conf-if)#dialer-group 1
under the bri interface use the dialer pool-member 1 | |

| No.. No.. No.. show isdn status is very helpful. You cannot identify status of bri interface from show interfaces command but show isdn status. This is because after you issue no shut in bri interface, it will come up even if you unplug the cable. This is call "Spoofing" and exist to make BRI interface shown in routing table. From your "show isdn status" output, it seem that your router cannot establish layer 2 connection. Check physical connection and make sure that you use straight-through cable connect from your router (S/T) to NT. If comply, check that you use correct switch type. With out layer 2 connectivity, you cannot make a call even you config correct dialer-list and dialer-group.
Hope this help. | |

| Pash,
Please point out to me in your config where your username password statement is.....either I'm going blind and foolish or it ain't there. |
