Finished CCNP, Show me the way to CCIE
|

| Calling all Cisco Gurus,
Just finished CCNP and now need the guiding light down the road to the CCIE. I want to sit the written in about six months, reason being is because I want to really know this information, not just pass the exam. Not to mention I'll be starting on my Masters so time will be limited. What books, study guides, CBT's, etc. did any of you use to prepare you for the CCIE (written & lab)? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

| My advice is not to prepare for the written and the lab at the same time. With the knowledge of CCNP still fresh, you can pass the written easily. Just get any CCIE guide for the written like Sybex and with little more study, you can pass the written. This is the easy part.
Here is the hard part, the lab. But don't worry about the lab until you pass the written. Because if you live in US, the backlog of the lab is 8 months and you can only book the lab after passing the written.

| Hi,
I agree with vr2zjw,it's easy to get passed in the written exam(if you are already on ccnp/ccdp track)."THE REAL KILLER" is lab.You can get all the information about CCIE at examnotes(in the ccie written examsection) like:
1-Which books to use?
2-search the net for CCIE Resources & websites.
3-exam costsand no.of Q?
My recommendations(i am not a Cisco Guru rather want to one.)are:
1-read the cisco online documentation.
2-Practice as many as tests as you can.?
3-Review your ICND/BCSN/BCMSN Books
4-Whenever you face a problem;post it here,
(so that Novices like me can get advantage of it.)
5-Read the cisco CCIE Blueprint.
6-Get the Cisco recommended books and read them.
Thankyou | |

| Gentlemen,
Thanks for the information. I'll be sure to pass anything I pick up along the way to everyone here. I got such great support from people in the CCNP forum and hope to do the same for us CCIE hopefuls. I'll be jumping in head first on this written and maybe I'll complete before I start grad school. Take care and good luck to all. |
