Author Passed CCIE Written!!!

Took the test this morning and passed. I mean talk about relief when that little word congratulations popped up, I thought I would fall out of my chair.

I didn't make a great score, but lacking a lot of experience, didn't expect a great score. I'll take my pass and start making a run at the lab, if I can get the date I want, it will be in October.

Good luck to everybody!!

Congratulations and good luck in October.

Have a quick question, how long did you study between CCNP completion and CCIE written?

2001-04-07, 3:55 pm

I finished the CCNP Feb. 10. Goofed off three or four weeks. To be honest, I didn't get serious about studying until around the first of March. I knew it was going to be time consuming once I started and it was hard to get going but I had promised myself to be finished with the written by the end of April.

I used Caslow and Doyle.

Good luck on your studies.

congrat hershey!!!
may you be more precised about your resources:
"Caslow and Doyle", what the name or isbn of these books?

Doyle: are you refering to "Routing TCP/IP Volume 1"?

thanks a lot for your comments

Congrats on the pass. Now you really get to study

I think hershey was talking about "Routing TCP/IP" and "Bridges, Routers and Switches for CCIEs."

Congratulations hershey!

As a follow-up to emo's question, I checked that title (by Caslow) and found several editions with the same title, some with varied co-authors. Which edition is it exactly?

Has anyone used the book " Cisco Routing Illustrated: A Workbook for CCIEs and CCNPs " by Caslow?

I hope to rap up CCDA next week, then CID the following two weeks (to bag the extra title CCDP - already got CCNP). I guess it is never too early to start getting ready.

I'll have to check which edition of Caslow's book I used. It was the only one Amazon.com had. That's all I know off-hand. I used Doyle's Vol. I, because Vol. II didn't reach me in time.

I thought in general the test was fair and balanced and didn't hammer any one thing, but it covers a very broad scope. Everything is fair game. And some of the questions I felt were very obscure. After the test I reread the books and was able to pick out most of the answers that I hadn't felt real sure about, but they weren't obvious. Cisco is a master of obscurity.
