i posted this site earlier but here it is again
www.chuck.to/CCIEAdvice.htm

there is no "one book studying" for the ccie, though there are guides from lammle(sybex), que and from mcgrawhill (giles).
a good method would be to print the "written exam" objectives and study them one by one.
some often recommended books are
*jeff doyle -tcp/ip and igp's
*bruce caslow-though for the lab helps clarify lots of concepts
*kennedy clark- switching bible
*ciscopress--case studies..very important
*bgp-halabi

and to cover desktop protocols and other things ..the giles book is good (watch out for errata)

the mailing list at www.groupstudy.com is great.

for the labs now:

dont even prepare for the labs the same time as the written.
after passing written subscribe to the lab mailing list at groupstudy.com
then use the caslow book again and look for details.
practise time is available on the net at a price...www.ccbootcamp.com and the new www.nantech.com
they also sell a set of "labs to do" thats tougher than the real labs..at least as tough ..they better be for that price.

there are universities that rent out ccie practise labs at $ 250.00 a day (8 hours)...i would surely spend time in them for at least 2 days and do the labs from eiher ccbootcamp or nantech.com

there are lab prep courses....expensive.
wish my compabny sponsored me !!!
but again thats good if u are nearly 80% ready for yr lab....not point groping with all that equipment around and getting demoralized seeing others do it so very confidently.

anyway these views are my own and not the best way to tackle ccie.
others with better views ..pls comemnt...i am open to suggestions.

regards
mongol

Thanks Mongol. Your list looks pretty complete to me. Can't think what I would add to it at this point. Good luck.
