| I'm currently in the CCNP tracks and will be completing soon. Gotta go on for CCIE, Routing & Switching (Our company wants to be a silver partner). I'm not so worried about the written exam but i've heard alot of scarry things about the lab!!
I'd expect to have to configure stuff like this:
- all sorts of routing (RIP, IGRR, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP)
-Switching (Spanningtree, MLS, ...)
-access-lists
-multicasting
-Remote Access
-Frame relay and ATM
-SNA, knowing my luck!
- and some troubleshooting
I'd say thats about it!?
Anything else to keep in mind? Do i have to expect stuff like IPX or Apletalk?
I appreciate any tips that help me not look like a fool by not knowing the few useful things you have to know.
Thanks | |

| Appletalk is gone.
You need to know IPX. Don't forget DLSW+, ISDN is a major session. ATM PVC, SVC, Voice over IP. Token ring and all those bridging. How about the redistribution between all those IP routing protocol? | |

| What's with the dirty little tricks of the experts I hear so much about? | |

| The proctor can throw a wrench into what you're doing at any time.
For example, the procotor could telnet into one of your routers:
line con 0
no exec
end
wr m
Better hope you have IP connectivity working by the time he does that.....
Don't underestimate the written exam as its significantly more difficult than any of the CCNP exams (though still easily do-able). If you're serious about your preperations, go to groupstudy.com and subscribe to the lab prep mailing list. You'll find it infinitely more useful than this forum.
