CCIE written RESULTS...

| Well first of all I would like to say that ccie written is the most broad range examination I have ever taken. Qualification exam tests your theory or knowledge ranging in TCP/IP, bridging, routing, token ring (why? ) and of course Cisco routers. I must say without breaking nda that I felt that first fifty questions were from ccnp, ccdp exams, however after that my brain seems to lose focus and I was extremely surprise at the level of security questions and those DAUNTING bridge questions (SRB) and rif conversion. I didn’t answer those question accurately enough I felt. If you all are reading my boring impression of the test I guess you figured out I failed test. Right now I am slowly figured out why I failed and what I need to improve on. Once I gain my strength mentaly I will post my findings. To summarize what I have written Cisco examinations seems to be design towards to one-day lab. What I mean by that is there were no simple questions; I think questions were focus on weeding out low-level skills. It seems like for every questions I thought answered correctly another one came even harder and don’t get me wrong I am not complaining the test it self was written with clarity. For the study materials that I used I felt boson #2 was substantial helpful, and the required expert books. I going to add one more study material to my collection, and once I return give another try in two-weeks.
Well let me go spend some quality time with my family, as I have not seen them in four days. After I return from the family vacation, which is in Baltimore, MD close to the downtown, which is close to Barnes & Noble (my wife won’t allow me to bring any books). LOL

| thanks,
talk to adnigan (sp) he failed the first time
and passed the second also.
well, i guess i'll cram cram for a month and let it fly.
what specifically do you mean about the security questions ?
you will pass the second time.
it seems i'll have to read the tr wp about
10 times to have a chance.
you probubly have to adjust about 5 to 10 % to
pass. | |

| Keep your spirits up! As haseeb has said, get right back on that horse!
I crashed and burned as well on my first attempt, but figured that if I din't give it another go straight away, I never would. I looked on my first (failed attempt) as a method of gauging how difficult the exam was. So when it came to the second time around, I knew what to expect. The exam itself proved to be a bit more tiring than I expected (around the 70 question mark, I was ready to finish!).
At least you know now what to expect. Next time, I'm sure you'll pass with flying colours!
Keep us notified on your progress

| Hi, buddies thanks for the inspiration and motivation to move on and succeed. I will definitely get back on the horse and stride for acheivemnet. This is the reason why ccie so convent because of the level of knowledge you are expected to know. darthfeces to answer your question dealing w/ security ,TACACS+ , RADIUS, and AAA. With your security cert I am sure you know the basic of these services. See ya.. Time to get for ready for work.. | |

| I've been waiting all weekend to hear your results and I'm so sorry it wasn't the way you wanted in to go. However - there is no doubt that you'll pass the 2nd time around. Don't rush it...this wasn't a failure - just another learning opportunity. Enjoy your vacation and give your brain a rest. By the way - when we go on vacation my husband also takes away my notebook and pencils. Susan | |

| Hope I don't get flamed for this, but is one expected to memorize different RFCs and there related titles? I am reading the Caslow book and he makes notes of these; such as:
RFC 2178 OSPF v2
RFC 1587 OSPF NSSA
Do I need to waste precious mental space on this inanities?

| I just passed the written last week and I can tell you the test is not only a test of knowledge, but also a test of endurance. I found this to be the case with the CCDA test as well. After 70 questions you are ready to be done, but those last 30 are the difference between pass and fail. I would say the test is 20 softballs, 20 impossible and 60 mid to hard. Its the 60 that require the most focus, but don't let the impossible questions psych you out.
BTW I read Caslow, Doyle, Halabi, all the CCNP books and used Certificationzone.com and Boson #1.
Can't get a Lab spot until June, but would love to go in March. I'll keep waiting.

| hi ,
i'm using caslow, exam cram,
token ring wp, boson #1
should this be enough ???
i am taking on 12/12 | |
| tomseibert 2001-11-21, 9:19 pm |
| Not sure about the Cram, but I can tell you the Rossi token ring paper is great and Caslow is awsome (as I'm sure you know).
I think the most challenging part for me, as others have mentioned were the "select all that are correct". Those drove me insane and all came early in the test, so I had to stop taking the test for about 2 minutes and re-focus myself. I just kept thinking, that I could get 30 of these wrong and still pass, over and over again. Ended up with a 76, which made my day!!!
* Make sure you can read a RIF, make up RIFs to translate so you have it down.
* Make sure you understand how IP works.
* Make sure you know all the router configuration register options!! i.e. what exactly happens when the router is set to 0x2102. Things like that.
The best advice I could give you is stay calm at all times and p*ss before you go in. By the 90 minute mark I was loosing focus because I had to go so bad
Best of luck!!! | |
