| Hi guys
I resat this exam today after crashing on it during the week. THIS time, I took my time, reviewed each question carefully, and relaxed a bit more! I passed with a score of 84%, after cramming the topics I failed the last time.
Onto Brussels now!! | |
|
| Let me be the first to congratulate you - well done.
When's the lab?? | |

| Hi Mat
I'll probably give myself about 8 months to prepare for the lab. Hopefully I'll be more than prepared by next June/July....what else would I be doing over the winter months anyway?

| tul0kmn,
hey, way to stick with it and get the job done!
Good luck on the lab, 8 months should be plenty of time.
I do have a questions...If you had to pick three resources that were essential for the CCIEw what would they be? Obvisous answer is experience but Im kinda looking for some study aids. in particular which books (resources) to focus my attention. I have a ton of books and to do some weed wackin'.
Peace

| Hi Lads
Thanks for all the comments. If I had to pick three resources which helped me I'd have to say the following:
A. Rossi's white paper on Token Ring and RIF's. This is an absolute must! If you don't understand RIF's, and the various forms of bridging (TB, SRB, SRB/TB etc) then you havent a chance of passing this exam).
B. Jeff Doyle's books (Routing TCP/IP) vols I and II. There are quite a few questions on OSPF, BGP, and other various routing protocols (which is only to be expected).
C. Boson exams! These were great to get my head into "exam mode" on the morning of the exam. I used exams 1 & 2. They are also a great confidance booster immediately before the exam, if you can manage to do quite well. When I say confidant, I don't mean cocky! Big difference as I found out the first time I sat the exam!!
If you have any more questions I can help you with, just ask.

| i have boson #1,
havent really touched it yet though.
i'm waiting till i finish reading bridges routers and switches for ccie and its a monster of a book. will just #1 be enough ???
i also had heard that #3 is good ???

| I don't think that just one Boson exam would be enough, especially as there is just so much to cover in this exam. The thing I found about the Boson exams I purchased, was that it reinforced in my mind what I knew, and showed me what I had to pay more attention to. This saved me some time as well, as I didn't have to go back over stuff I knew already, but rather, was able to concentrate on my weaker subjects. A lot of the stuff was similar to the various CCNP exams, so it helped a lot to have that under my belt.
