What decides the kind of signalling that's going to be used on a SCSI bus? The devices? The controller?

If it's controller, then you obviously match devices to the controller.

If it's the devices, then you have to match the devices to each other.

The cable I assume is a secondary issue, that is, you choose the cable after you've sorted out the signalling.

Thanks for any help in sorting this out for me.
