Failed Server+ today with 65%. I will not be returning to retake this one. Way too expensive.

For those of you that are taking this there was a lot of SCSI and backup questions dealing with tape drives, GFS, etc. Tough exam however I think a lot of questions were ambiguous as with any CompTIA exam.

I douched this one too. Hardest comptia exam I ever took, score I think was about what you got . . . not too far from passing, but not close enough. I got a voucher so didn't have to pay for it though.

Yea, I think I have a new found respect for anyone who can pass this one. It's tough with little hands on. However if they lowered the score the value of it would decline even further.

I think I'm going to leave the world of CompTIA totally. Can't afford it.

I admit I didn't have much hands on either. I have administered and programmed machines, but rarely been forced to mount servers in racks or do backups. Like you, I wouldn't be in favor of lowering the score. I think the score for the A+ tests are low enough as it is. But shelling another f-ing 200 bucks for an exam ain't happenin. Just can't afford that. Hope your next exam goes better. For me will probably be trying to either do my CCNA or do some MS exams. Good luck.

Server+ is a lot about mentality and process. I thought the exam is a really good learning experience for people who have experience and even for those who don't.

For the experience people, they can apply their "non-technical" network admin skills to the test and also maybe pick up on a few best practices.

For those without experience, it lets you view the job from another angle. All the technical skills in the world won't help you if you don't know best practices such as testing backups regularly, rotating tapes for off-site storage, surveying the server room and stuff like that.

Don't get me wrong, this was a hard exam. I needed to read 2 different books before I actually wrote this exam. I learned a lot though!

Good luck to you guys in the world of certification.

Hello folks!
I read your posts and I can say that exam server+ is simpler than CCNA i passed both and for server+ I prepared about 2 days to CCNA it took me something about 2 months.
It's fact that I,ve maintained with servers since 1991 but with cisco equipment i've worked for a three years and nowbody who can't set manualy a router to work for example in frame-relay network with EIGRP or OSPF have 0% chance to pass exam, because it contains 2 - 4 simulation with 10 min. for each ( I've got three on my exam)if you missed any it takes you 16 points, to pass you have to get 85 points for maximum 100.
To server+ exam you can learn from books but to CCNA without hands on 0% chance.
Ok guys don't give up my advice read everything you can find or get especially for free, accumulate your knowledge and pass all exam you can take your brain it's your money.

regards
Mac

Oh yes. There's absolutely no doubt Server+ is easier than CCNA.
