| I just finished recertifying my CCNA. Since I'm a mood for more certifications, I thought I'd go far Server and Security. Any opinions on which one I should study for first and maybe some recommendation on books? | |

| Doesn't really make a difference which one you study for first as they are not really related topics. Personally, I think the Scurity+ certification maybe a little more interesting than Server+ which is very hardware-centric. | |

| Security + would be better. Security is in the forefont of peoples' minds these days. | |

I would suggest Security+. Also, I would suggest the Microsoft book for Security+. You can get it from bookpool pretty cheap:

I know, Microsoft and Security right? Well, they actually have a good book, and it's been endorsed by CompTIA.
I would suggest against Syngress's Security+ and DVD book. The DVD is crap IMHO. http://www.bookpool.com/.x/79oycehh34/sm/1931836728

| Thanks for everybody's input security + is probably what I'll go for. After looking at the objectives of the exam I've already covered alot of those topics and that way I don't have to start my studying from scratch. | |

| I sat both of these the same day. Very easy if you're familiar with any security on a network and the datacenter area. If money is your biggest hurdle, well, I'd personally go for the Security+. Market is hot on this stuff right now, however at this level (COMPTIA), you're not going to bust into a company as a security expert, so again, perhaps this is a pointless question to begin with? |
