Passed Server+ and What to look for.......
|
|

| Hi Everyone, I passed Server+ yesterday.
Got an 81. I thought I should of got much higher. IT was the second time I took it.
I flunked it a few months ago....not because I wasn't prepared either. I should of did more practice tests. I knew all the Boson
practice tests and that was it. I studied Server+ Bible and Server+ for Dummies. Do countless practice questions. Know why the wrong answers are wrong. That is the key to this test. I am so glad to have this Monkey off my back. I am also proud to say I am a Certified to upgrade, Troubleshoot, Build, Servers as well aqs manage or work in the server room. Thats what this test is all about. Tips: 1. Know your SCSI compatabilities with other SCSI Technologies.
2. Know Characterisitcs of Raid 0,1,3,4,5, and 10.
3. Do countless practice questions and know why the wrong answers are wrong.
4. Find a good book to study like Server+ Bible or Sybex Book. Then start your practice questions after you read the book and understand all the concepts. Just read the book to understand everything, Then memorize your SCSI and know your RAID specifics and start your practice questions.
Spend a atleast a good month on practice questions or a little longer and remember....know why the wrong answers are wrong.
It is acheivable. It just takes some time.
Thankyou for all your help everyone. Especially Freak, Ranger and all of you. I could not of done it without you Folk.
I need a little break from studying for a short while.

| Most excellent news Ian!
I think we've all been waiting for awhile to hear the good news from you. It feels great doesn't it? Especially all the hard work you've put into the test. Once again, hearty congratulations! You deserve to kick back. | |

| Thankyou,
Yes I have been worrying about it since late June. Then I flagged it in September. So I was really concerned yet I surely wanted to acheive it even more at that point. Only thing is I feel sorry for everyone here at the board. I am sure they got tired of me blah-blah-blahing about it. You guys were probably like....OK Ian, Study what you screwed up last time, Keep to it and just shut up LOL
Reguardless I am most grateful to each of you for keeping my confidence up. Nobody ever said....Ahhh give up on it already and move to something eles. You guys all said"just keep going and you'll get it" We'll you were right. I am glad I never thought about giving up. I never told you guys this but in the summer my friend who is already A+ started studying this with me. We studied all damn day the 4th of July. No Joke. We finished the book together and he studied real hard right there with me. But then one day he just quit??? He said he was losing interest. I was like "Don't Quit" "Not after all you have worked for." I told him to finish it out and I would be there right with him for support. We'll I got tired of trying to talk him into
it. Anyway I am very very glad I stuck to it even though I lost my partner. You guys kinda became my partners Ya Know. Everytime I became doubtful I would pop into the board here and I would be like "We'll, They did it, They said so could I...and I can" lol
I think I'll shoot for my MCP next after I relax a while.
Merry Christmas everyone. Thankyou Much

| Well Ian,
I figure that's what separates us from the others. The self determination and strength of character that it takes to persevere and reach the final goal.
I've said it before and I'll say it again... "If it was easy, everybody would be doing it."
This certification stuff becomes more of a personal quest for me in that I am a better person for pushing myself to achieve and strive to develope myself above and beyond that which is required to "get by".
Keep up the good work. | |

| Ian,
I parrot Supertech's words also. I've got quite a few friends with advanced degrees who dropped the quest and are now finding out that they have to start anew to move on.
They also said why are you wasting time and money, you are already in the field.
Certs are here to stay if you want or hope to live on the bleeding edge. Degrees while nice to have are no longer the guarantee that they were in years past. Employers want a guarantee based on what have you done for them or to improve yourself lately.
Press on. | |

| Ian, 1st congrats!
I think this is a fairly good community. I was grateful when you and SuperTech and others provided the CTT+ testing helps.
Most of us are here to help, after all, if we geeks don't help other geeks, what has this geeky world be come to???
Take some rest and then take on the world again!
Happy holidays! | |
