Just Passed Server+ Exam

| Hello all. I just passed the Server+ exam today. I definitely thought it would be much tougher. I used the Exam Cram book and whatever study guides that i could pick up on the net. Some people have mentioned that the test drills you hard on SCSI and RAID. There was hardly any questions about throughput, pinouts, and cable lengths (you know.....all those numbers you have to memorize). Actually, i dont think that there was any. I had all the SCSI charts memorized then wrote them down when i began to take the exam. Well, i didnt have to even look at that chart....there just wasnt any questions on it. There was one about combining a LVD device to a HVD device and what would happen...pretty obvious. Basically, the SCSI q's were about compatibility..can you combine this with that. I didnt see anything on fiber. There was some very basic RAID questions about Raid 1, 0, and 5. Also, there was the question about which RAID level has the best read performance with x amount of drives. And for the rest of the exam, there was just basic scenario questions.....your setting up a server room, what should you consider....you added memory and now getting post errors, whats the problem, you can ping the server, and others cant, what do you do.....security q's about locking cabs and rooms....and a good amount of q's on tape backup.
Overall, general basic questions. There was absolutely no number memorization here, just alot of stories about Dan the server administrator messing with his servers and then you having to fix them. LOL But thats the gist of it.
The key element to passing this exam is understanding how things work. Thats pretty much it. If you dont understand a question or answer while studying, just do some research on it. Thats how youll learn and pass the exam.

| Congratulations on your pass felix44. way to go, thanks for the explanation, now whats the next one your taking, i think that these stuff of been certified is addictive dude. i have read 12 books of aprox 600 pages each, and im not tired of it.
