| Hi all, I on on to my next cert after A+. I was wondering if I should atempt the ser+ or the net+ . I studied my a+ with the sybex book and the CBT nuggets videos. I have the cbt videos for the ser+ and the net+..I have no books for the net+ yet, but have two for the ser+ (sybex and cert bible). should I put the ser+ on hold and get a net+ book or just go ahead and study study study and more studing for the ser+ as all the post have me freaked out for the test... lol. | I second the motion. Go for Network+ next.
However, even though the Server+ is much more difficult than other CompTIA offerings, it is not insurmountable. In this case though, I would suggest going after Network+ first and revisit Server+ at another time. Supertech posted in another thread that there is about 29% overlap between Network+ and Server+ so this would be a great route to go for pre-exposing yourself to materials covered in the Server+ exam.

| First you deal with the basics of networking. Then you go on to high end server technologies. To do the opposite would make no sense. | |

| I took server+ before network+, made network+ seem easier then a+ . I studied for a few days (I had taken a class aswell), and I easily passed (with like an 85%). It was a heck of alot harder then a+ though, but not as hard as any microsoft tests. You actually need to know your stuff. I recommend cramsession and i used the sybex book too (before i started to cram). I doubt i would have passed if i hadnt read CoursePrep ExamGuide Server + cover to cover many times. I really suggest it, Its like less then $40 canadian (about $25 us) so its pretty affordable.

| Hi all,
Hope you all had a good holiday season. As for me, I took the Server+ test Friday before Christmas and FAILED! I've been studying and putting it off all year while watching the different news groups. As a veteran CompTIA tester, I agree with most of the views. Much of the test is murky at best. Many of the questions, I felt, were not complete enough to give a correct answer as there always seemed to be two that would fit. Anyway, I'm on for this Friday again. I missed the Beta by four, missed this by six. It seems difficult to get by the test style that CompTIA uses. I even wrote CompTIA of my findings and they forwarded them on to their test meister. As always, don't know if it'll do any good. R/

| I thought it was a very good test. I passed with an 82. No complaints. | |

| If it is possible, Net+ -> Server+ would be the best choice, |
